While drug and alcohol intoxication are risk factors for incurring a TBI and lead to poorer rehabilitation outcomes; less is known about how TBI affects the likelihood of drug and alcohol misuse. In this ACRM Annual Conference symposium, John Corrigan and colleagues will focus on TBI as a risk factor for drug and alcohol misuse as well as the neural mechanisms that may explain these behaviors and potential therapeutic strategies to mediate these processes. A better understanding of the relationships among the relevant biopsychosocial phenomena could have important implications for risk prevention and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse following TBI. Choose significant savings and convenience with the new VIRTUAL-ONLY registration option and later toggle to the IN-PERSON upgrade if circumstances permit.
