Poor air ventilation could be cause of COVID-19 among employees, sheriff's office says WLOS-TV Eight employees with the Yancey County Sheriff's Office have tested positive for COVID-19. Sheriff Gary Banks says the majority of those who have tested positive are detention officers who work in the jail. Banks said the original individual who tested positive worked in the jail's control room which has very limited air circulation due to the design of the building and a mini split inside the room that simply re-circulates the air.
