Shana Bull, a marketing consultant in Concord, CA, is one of the scores of new RV owners who are behind the so-called Summer of the RV. When the pandemic began, she and her husband felt an RV would be the safest way to travel with their 4-year-old son, who has an autoimmune disease and a compromised immune system. In June, they drove 200 miles to pick up a new travel trailer and set out on their maiden voyage to a campground about 75 miles from their home. The family was able to take along their two elderly dogs, and their son loved collecting pinecones and lining them up on the trailer’s steps.
