Nurse Hannah Blakely remembers a day at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when a friend, and fellow nurse, lost a patient to the disease and dissolved into tears. Blakely embraced her because she understood how difficult it was to care for a patient in intensive care day after day. After developing relationships with patients and families and then see that person take a sudden turn for the worse and die is heartbreaking for the nurses caring for them.
