Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez de France offers two featured sessions for CLWB attendees. The first — entitled Shifting Perspectives: Unlearning and Reframing — focuses on the importance of paying attention to the values, beliefs, and messages we convey through our language. Participants will have a chance to reflect on naturalizing Indigenous knowledge within our work.
The second session — My Mother Used to Say… (How Proverbs Inform Our Worldview) — ponders how specific ways of knowing are reflected in proverbs, refrains, and other popular sayings. Participants will explore the values, morals, and teachings of various expressions to gain cultural insight.
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez de France is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Indigenous Education at the University of Victoria. She facilitates courses on Indigenous worldview and researches the scholarship of teaching and learning.
