Shortly after noon on Sunday, four exhausted young men stepped onto the platform at the National War Memorial, whereupon they dropped to their hands and feet and completed 22 pushups in the rain, while a few dozen spectators, undeterred by weather or pandemic, looked on, counting aloud and cheering. The quartet — Dylan Pace, Scott Simpson, Colin Soulsby and Jeff Jorgensen, each a Canadian Armed Forces veteran — had just completed a 36-hour, 175-km. walk from CFB Petawawa to Ottawa to raise funds and awareness for Wounded Warriors Canada, a national organization that provides mental-health services for Forces members, veterans, first responders and their families.
