More than 660,000 acres of land across the state has been enrolled in Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Qualified Forest Program. This program provides immense tax savings to landowners, promotes sustainable forest management and supports local forest products industries. The purpose of the Qualified Forest Program (QFP) is to encourage landowners to actively manage their privately owned forests for commercial harvest, wildlife habitat enhancement and improvement of other non-forest resources.
