Recent advancements in biomedical engineering have enabled the development of devices that offer greater measurement capabilities in smaller form factors with wireless operation. In this ACRM Annual Conference Special Symposium on 21 October, Dr. Steve Xu will describe new soft, flexible, and wireless sensors able to measure a wide range of physiological parameters relevant for pediatric rehabilitation including vital signs, full body kinematics, EMG, and actigraphy based measurements. Early clinical studies demonstrate the utility and value of these technologies for both diagnostic and rehabilitative treatment tracking purposes. Applications within pediatric rehabilitation include cerebral palsy and post-surgical recovery.
