California voters will decide in November whether a doctor needs to be present at all times in kidney dialysis clinics. Supporters collected at least 623,212 qualified signatures, clearing the measure to be added to the ballot, Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced. The initiative, backed by the state’s largest health-care worker union, is the latest push to regulate a sector of the industry that is dominated by two dialysis providers: DaVita Inc. and Fresenius Medical Care North America.
