This November, Escambia County voters may see a ballot item to launch a new government entity focused on improving health, safety, development and success of local children. A coalition of more than 170 citizens are advocating for the creation of a Children's Services Council. If approved by voters, the new council would levy a 0.5 mill ad valorum tax that would generate about $7.8 million annually.
