Women who took sildenafil during pregnancy to treat fetal growth restriction did not see reduced risk of morbidity and mortality in their babies — and some experienced further harm, according to a randomized clinical trial from the Netherlands. Perinatal mortality or major neonatal morbidity occurred in 60.2 percent of infants whose mothers took sildenafil versus 54.2 percent who took a placebo, reported Wessel Ganzevoort, MD, PhD, of the Amsterdam UMC, and colleagues.
