Women with high-risk early cervical cancer should receive platinum-based chemoradiation following hysterectomy, whereas adjuvant radiotherapy is sufficient for intermediate-risk disease, according to a new guideline from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). The recommendations also address appropriate use of brachytherapy, radiation therapy technique, optimal dosing and fractionation, and management of radiation-associated toxicity, as described in the current issue of Practical Radiation Oncology.
