Most areas of medicine use biomarkers in some capacity to aid in understanding how personal biology informs clinical care. This presentation draws upon the Rehabilomics Research model as a translational framework in which to generate and assess biomarkers in the context of function. Amy Wagner, MD will apply the Rehabilomics Research framework to the population with traumatic brain injury (TBI) to examine mechanistic relationships of humoral and hormonal markers with respect to central nervous system (CNS) function and non-neurological organ dysfunction (NNOD). Applications of these markers to secondary conditions and downstream impacts on function will be discussed.
