In the early evening of May 21, nearly six dozen lovers of bookish trivia, organized across 25 cleverly named teams, battled to the final question before closing out BISG's closest-ever trivia contest in a tie. Well, so far, it's our only trivia contest, but it really did come down to the wire.
The winners? "Best American Trivia Team" lived up to its name, tied with "schema:moralHazard". The two wound up just one point ahead of the popular "Team Scrubbing Bubbles" and three ahead of "Wuthering Blights" and "Keep Calm and Stet On". All five teams earned bragging rights, which they richly deserve and in some cases were already claiming before the contest began.
All of the registration revenue was matched by BISG and donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, which will receive $1,500 to help booksellers in need across the country. Several Binc staffers joined the contest, and industry associations IBPA, AUPresses, and Poets & Writers all fielded teams. But fun and some very clever names (looking at you, "I Never Met-A-Data I Didn't Like") ruled the evening.
