Some RV factories in Elkhart County are keeping their assembly lines open six days a week to meet the sudden demand for travel trailers and motorhomes. This heightened demand is showing up in the county’s unemployment rate, which recently marked one of the biggest drops in the country. In May, its jobless rate fell to 12%, compared to nearly 30% just a month earlier. The trend was not lost on Wall Street. Both Patrick Industries and Thor Industries, which are based in the county, saw their stocks shoot up by more than 200% in June from their low marks in March.
