Testing procedures for gestational diabetes in pregnant women around the world need greater scrutiny to be reliable, researchers from The Australian National University (ANU) warn. The researchers found a "significant flaw" in the approach commonly used that can lead to substantial underdiagnosis of the condition. The problem arises if there is a delay in processing the glucose drink used to test patients' blood samples.
