Cold atmospheric plasma was a helpful addition to standard treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, according to a randomized trial. Compared with a placebo added to standard of care, eight applications of CAP (generated from argon gas in an atmospheric pressure plasma jet plus) standard wound care significantly increased wound healing — meeting one of the primary endpoints, reported Bernd Stratmann, Ph.D., of Ruhr Universität Bochum in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany and colleagues.
