Google searches in the U.S. regarding financial difficulties and disaster relief saw a sharp increase in March and April compared to pre-pandemic times, according to a new study published online in the journal PLOS One.
Since previous studies have shown that financial distress is significantly linked to suicide mortality, researchers from Columbia University Irving Medical Center fear that the increase may predict a future increase in suicide deaths.
