The Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association recently defeated two climate bills that sought to displace heating fuels with electric equipment. Their lobbying efforts included extensive outreach to legislators. As a result, the Massachusetts House of Representatives did not act favorably on two legislative proposals — Senate 2500 and House 3983 — that would have paved the way for carbon taxes on heating oil and propane, and altered state building codes in favor of widespread electrification of homes using heating oil and propane.
