The gas utility tariffs for August are in. As mentioned last month, July's rates were low reflecting adjustments to the beginning of the new fiscal year. But August's rates are all up across the board. You can compare these rates to your own prices. As shown below, with the recent collapse in petroleum prices worldwide, local heating oil prices are now less than the average natural gas tariff for a fifth month in a row, despite the average state heating oil price increasing 10 cents from mid-June.
