Glenn Mills found peace almost immediately when his dreams of winning an Olympic medal were cut short by the U.S. boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, a response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
Mills was in line to win a medal in the 200 breaststroke there. He won the U.S. Trials and was ranked third in the world at the time.
