The Rev. Art Gordon senior pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Boston has helped pastor his congregation through the coronavirus pandemic. He also helped organize a clergy march in solidarity of the Black Lives Matter movement earlier this month. But when it came to attending another protest, he decided his role was to pray. Gordon remembers a few years ago when five prominent activists died, two of them were suicides and one was from a heart attack at age 27.
